The Best Summer Spots in Maine

The Best Summer Spots in Maine

August 02, 2017

As New-Englanders we know summer is the BEST time to be in Maine - eating lobster rolls galore, cool nights watching sunsets from a boat and just being outdoors as much as possible before we have to wear 5 layers just to walk outside. It also means this is the time to explore our favorite places with the best beaches, hiking, boating and overall outdoor escape.  While it is tough to narrow these down to only a few places, we have pulled together our favorite spots to spend a few days soaking up Maine summer.
BAR HARBOR, MAINE:
If you are searching for an idyllic-outdoor Maine getaway head 3 hours North of Portland to this beautiful spot. From hiking and biking the trails of Acadia National Park, you can spend days exploring this beautiful park and surrounding towns.

CAMDEN, MAINE:
This is the picturesque New England town with amazing food spots and downtown shops to explore. We recommend hiking Mount Battie or driving your car up just to see the amazing views overlooking this coastal town.

BOOTHBAY HARBOR, MAINE:
There is so much to do in Boothbay, between the serene botanical gardens and numerous parks, as well as surrounding islands you can explore the area by land or boat. Play a round of golf at the newly constructed Boothbay Harbor Country Club or play some tennis at public courts nearby.

PORTLAND, MAINE:

Portland has become the latest foodie destination. Grab a lobster roll at Eventide and a donut & coffee at the Holy Donut. At night you can check out some live music in the at Portland Lobster Company and grab a nightcap cocktail at The Portland Hunt & Alpine Club. During the day take a quick ferry ride to one of the many islands surrounding Portland to explore beaches, kayaking, biking, etc.
